Remanufactured Ink Cartridge - 2 cartridge machines

Thursday, June 20, 2024

This post is about printers that take 2 ink cartridges.  One for the black and another for the colour.  It is based on our own experience.

Firstly, it should be made clear what a remanufactured ink actually is.  They are an original cartridge that has simply been refilled with a lot more ink.  This is where the value is for printers that have this set up.  We can't make a new compatible for these printers but you can get considerably better value printing from using a refilled one.

You will note that normally these cartridges state how many pages they print and this is a good way to compare value.  However printer operators do need to bear in mind that pages quoted are based on 5% coverage of the page.

Now we do hear that this isn't a great way to describe a cartridge as people don't really know the coverage of the pages they are printing.  However we feel it is a good way and used as a standard within the industry for printer users to use as a comparison.  Whilst it may be very hard to calculate your own usage in terms of percentages, even impossible but you can use this guide against other cartridges to get some idea of how much you are actually getting for your money.

I dealt with a chap a few months ago who was outraged at the price of one of our remanufactured ink cartridges.  In his outrage, shouting that he could get an original cartridge for the price (he couldn't) he would not hear me inform him that the one we sell prints 480 pages.  The original prints 240 pages. Ours was £16.99 and the original costs around £22 . This is a great comparison because obviously we can all clearly see that the remanufactured one is far better value.

Most of the time the ink cartridges work well.  We sell a huge volume and rarely get issues.  However, there are a couple of tips that we provide on one of our famous ‘tip sheets’ when you buy these cartridges.  So if you do struggle to get one printing perfectly the first time, these couple of tips will have you printing like a pro in minutes and as always just get in touch,  we are very happy to help.
